The branding company’s clientele include Mississippi State, James Madison, North Dakota State and NCAA among others.

“This is a place that is steeped in tradition,” said Joe Bosack, Creative Director, Joe Bosack & Co.

“From an initial client brief, we felt that it was critical to acknowledge that strong sense of tradition in the development of updated and refreshed athletics marks and logos.”

Joe Bosack & Co. has designed three logos, first of which can be seen as the Bulldogs take the football field this fall. The first variation is the new “star C monogram” which contains a five-pointed star in the middle of a block C.

The star symbolizes patriotism and the armed forces along with representing academic excellence. The curvature in “C” is symbolic of the Spanish Moorish architecture seen in the campus.

Based on The Citadel’s live mascot, the new Bulldog logo has the Bulldog wearing “the iconic full-dress uniform of the Corps of Cadets.”

The bulldog will be seen on signage, logos and uniform.

The final piece is a script wordmark inspired by military vehicles stationed around the college and will be used exclusively for baseball.

It is designed to pay homage to The Citadel’s 1990 team that achieved national notoriety and played in the college world series,” Bosack said.

Here is the official video of The Citadel’s new branding:

The Citadel, one of six senior military colleges in the US, has 16 varsity teams. All 16 teams, according to athletics director Mike Capaccio, will be seen in the new uniform with the updated branding.
