Designed by Elif Bulut, an Istanbul-based industrial designer, Standbox is a sustainable shoebox that eliminates the use of plastic or paper bags.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt is a clever packaging design<\/a> that aims to use energy resources more efficiently, take up less space than its counterparts, to minimize the need for extra plastic and cardboard,\u201d says Bulut. The packaging design is a combination of a shoebox, shoe display, and bag.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the design is based on a simple idea, it truly reflects the designer\u2019s amazing insights and ingenuity. Standbox shoeboxes are made from organic and eco-friendly materials which produce extremely low waste and saves on space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, it allows manufacturers to distribute more products efficiently, reducing the carbon footprint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After it serves its purpose of packaging, it can create a new life cycle by serving a completely different purpose. Apart from it being designed to be long-lasting, the shoe carrier looks extremely stylish and luxurious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cStandbox is a shoebox that can protect, carry, and present shoes. Thanks to its form, it is smaller than its counterparts and has the potential to display shoes on top of each other,\u201d writes Bulut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt provides energy and space savings to its manufacturer, seller, and user during production, distribution, and storage stages. The manufacturer can distribute more products at once so that the carbon footprint drops; the seller and user do not need an extra plastic organizer to store and present the shoe. Unlike other shoeboxes, it can be carried on its own without the need for a plastic or a paper bag.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the world is striving to reduce greenhouse emissions and signing climate agreements to reach carbon neutrality by mid-century, Bulut\u2019s simple innovation might hold an important answer. Bulut\u2019s design points towards thinking about simple things and using what is readily available to counter bigger threats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
