Aside from its content, a written word can be unique for its shape, form, and even color &#8211; all that typography brings to the table.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With that said, let\u2019s take a quick look at the list of creative, current fonts that take the lead in 2021.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>1) Serif<\/b><b> Type Styles font trends<\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Serif can be described as a decorative line or stroke on a letter. Some research has revealed that serif fonts in print are considered easier to read than sans-serif<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">fonts. Considering that it was developed by Renaissance typographers in the late 15th century, this font is one that is hard to miss. Old Style <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">fonts<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> look alike calligraphy&#8217;s pen and ink. They are seen as high-class letterforms that derive from traditional handwriting. The &#8216;transitional&#8217; name of this group of fonts come from the place where Old Style and Modern meets. Their historical origins date back to the Enlightenment era. Typically, transitional <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">fonts<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8216; <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&nbsp;serifs<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are wide.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/designbro.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/image12-3.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6525\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>Neoclassical &amp; Didone font trends<\/b><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Neoclassical &amp; Didone <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">fonts<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> arise from John Baskerville&#8217;s past inventions and later became a general-purpose printing style. They were named &#8216;Modern&#8217; for the revolutionary role that they played.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The family of 50 <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">serif <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">typefaces &#8216;URW Bodoni&#8217; was <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">designed<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by Giambattista Bodoni in 1798 who was inspired by French type-founders, Pierre Simon Fournier and Firmin Didot.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As you can see below, Neoclassical &amp; Didone <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">font<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is characterized by the vertical axis, the utmost contrast between thick and thin strokes, hairline <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">serifs<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, geometric construction, and narrower underlying structure with flat, unbracketed <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">serifs<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/designbro.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/image9-9.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6528\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>Slab font trends<\/b><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Slab fonts were a late variation of Modern. Chronologically, they came after Neoclassical and before Clarendon. Slab <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Serif<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was born in Britain, and somehow, its pseudonym is \u2018The Egyptian\u2019 (it\u2019s Vincent Figgins\u2019s fault actually). It was created along with the development of advertisement, and letterforms became bolder.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This font stands out from the crowd. It is <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">creative<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and is characterized by super thick, slab-like, square-cut f<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">onts<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and blocky <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">serifs<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (can be angled, blunt or rounded). Some examples of them include American Typewriter, Archer, Courier, and Rockwell.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/designbro.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/image17-2.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6520\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>Clarendon font trends<\/b><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Clarendon typefaces were created in Fann Street Foundry in London in 1845. They arose from the Slab <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">serif<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> family which at that time, had already existed for 35 years. Due to their intense evolution, they became a <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">new<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> separate genre of <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">fonts<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Clarendon was a way of making the Slab serif style work on smaller sizes, and it instantly became popular. It\u2019s often used for posters printed on wooden material&nbsp; (like American Old West). They have less contrast than previous \u2018Modern\u2019 styles, and their shapes are more rounded. It&#8217;s classy, well-known and still fresh.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/designbro.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/image4-10.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6533\"><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>Glyphic font trends<\/b><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They are recognizable by their sharp-pointed serifs, sometimes called \u2018thorns\u2019. Some Glyphic types show-up where a delicate, refined design touch and feminine energy is required. They\u2019re subdivided into following the families, and fortunately, many of them are available online for <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">free<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>Grotesque font trends<\/b><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They are known for their idiosyncrasies, uneven weights and irregular curves (all error-like features). They could not have made better choices!<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Apart from them being available for <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">download<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> all over the internet, Geometric fonts just rock it! Their origin dates back to 1920, and they used to be referred to as the Bauhaus style. They bring about a more personalized approach to designs that help evoke emotions in consumers.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>Formal font trends<\/b><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wedding invitations, baby showers, formal events, we have all seen designs related to such occasions. Needless to say, Formal fonts are heavily used for these events as it elicits&nbsp; a more romantic or official style to the text.
