• Do not spam

This is really important! When sending emails or getting in touch with the website’s editorial team via their contact forms, do not give them the impression that you are spamming them.

This means that you should not be sending the same email multiple times a week. You should wait at least 5-7 days for their response before sending a follow-up. Many sites receive multiple guest post pitches a day, and sending more emails isn’t really going to increase your chances.

Also, don’t make it seem as if you are sending the same exact email to every single site. Believe it or not, most sites’ editorial team can tell whether or not you are. Adjust your email specifically to that site. Include the name of the person you are trying to contact (if possible), and show an interest in their blog’s content.

• Propose a good pitch

In a short and concise way, convince the site’s editorial team that you are able to provide valuable content to them. Introduce yourself by mentioning your name, job position, and the company that you work for.

Next, give around 3 examples of blog articles that you have already gotten published on other sites. This will increase your credibility and give the site a better idea of your writing style and expertise. Preferably, include links to the articles that focus on the same topics as the site itself.

With that being said, before pitching your ideas, make sure you know what kind of blog they are, what types of topics they mainly focus on, and who their readers are (eg. is the blog catered to experts or beginners?)

Once you’ve got a general idea of this, propose some topics (3-5) that you think would be a great addition to their blog, something that their target audience would want to read. Also, make sure that they are topics that have not yet been covered on their blog. This will definitely increase your chances of getting your article published.

• Follow the sites’ guest post guidelines

Not following them will lead to your article not being considered for publishing. Therefore, read the sites’ guest post guidelines carefully as this may differ from site to site.

• Product quality content only

Most sites nowadays will require that your article is at least 1000+ words long. Be sure that your article actually provides valuable content. Include statistics and references to some recent studies whenever you can.

Additionally, make sure that your article is written in good, but preferably, perfect English. Check for grammar and spelling mistakes, paraphrases for improving content quality, and most importantly, plagiarism. You may use sites like Grammarly, Paraphraser, and Small SEO Tools to help you out.
