Disney recently revealed its plans to celebrate its 30th Anniversary at Disneyland Paris next year.
While the information about the celebration is scanty, Disney announced the date and the new logo on its website along with a fun trailer. The official website reads, “Celebrate the beginning of something big at the Disneyland Paris 30th Anniversary!”
“Are you ready to be a part of a once-in-a-lifetime anniversary celebration? After 30 years of dreams, the magic of Disneyland Paris will ignite like never before. Don’t miss out on the festivities, from 6 March 2022!”
Old footage of the theme park, Captain America, Snow White, Star Wars and a host of Disney characters, can be seen in the trailer released earlier this week. The trailer ends with the anniversary logo and the commencement date of the celebrations.
Disney fans have been known for finding hidden Mickeys in theme parks, cartoons and films. Keeping the love for the Disney Easter eggs alive, Disneyland Paris designed a double-meaning logo. Ingeniously designed, the new emblem features the silhouette of Mickey’s head and the numbers 3 and 0.
The animated logo also features the iconic shooting star seen in the Walt Disney Pictures emblem. The Disney+ logo also features a similar look.
The promotional video has struck a chord with fans and design enthusiasts from all over the world. Fans took to their social media handles to comment about the anniversary logo design.
The design community on Reddit got flooded with comments soon after Disneyland Paris released the trailer. One redditor user commented, “…This is close to minimalism since it’s obviously just shapes, but it’s so, so much more appealing to me automatically based just on the interesting materials and lighting system they used. I would love for this to become a trend…”
Another redditor wrote, “Wait, so graphic design isn’t just selecting a font? News to 99% of the industry.”
While many appreciated the beauty of the design, some missed the intelligent design at first glance. The confusion led to some interesting comments; one user wrote, “I know, I was wondering how there were so many up votes, it seemed like a regular logo, a good looking one but nothing special.” From being called Euro Disney in 1992 to Disneyland Paris in 1994 to becoming the most popular tourist destination in Europe today, the theme park has traveled a long way. The theme park has opened after Covid-induced restrictions and has invited guests from all over the world to witness the grandeur of its 30th-anniversary celebrations.
