According to a new report revealed by Bloomberg Wednesday, GAP anticipates a collection of almost $1 billion through this collaboration.
American rapper, record producer and fashion designer, Kanye West, recently revealed the Yeezy x Gap logo after the April 9 trade mark filing.
The official version of the logo is strikingly similar to the one West tweeted when he announced the partnership in June. “YEEZE AND GAP FORM PARTNERSHIP #WESTDAYEVER.”
The new logo has a navy background with “YZY” written on top in white, while the edges have been rounded: bearing a striking resemblance to Gap’s logo.
The collaboration could include headwear, footwear, clothing, accessories and bags as per the April 9 trademark filing. However, an official release date for the rapper’s collection is yet to be announced.
According to the New York Times, Yeezy signed a 10-year agreement with Gap in June with an additional clause of reviewing the deal every five years.
The 22 Grammy Awards winner may not be doing well in his personal life, but the “Stronger” rapper is still a major force in the fashion industry. According to a new report revealed by Bloomberg Wednesday, GAP anticipates a collection of almost $1 billion through this collaboration.
GAP’s total revenue in 2019 was $4.47 billion, which means the retail company expects fourth of the revenue through this collaboration.
Matthew DeGulis, an analyst who covers GAP said, “That does seem right. I do think it’s a big opportunity.” DeGulis believes that though the collection will not hit the figure out of the gates, it is not unrealistic for three to five years into the collaboration: halfway through in the 10-year deal.
The Yeezy x and Adidas collaboration took years to come together, but Kanye’s collection with Gap will launch anytime soon. According to Bloomberg, the collection will launch “toward the latter part of the first half of the year.”
West’s Yeezy sneakers have become very popular in the recent years. The popularity can be gazed by the fact that his line of shoes fly off the shelves routinely. Recently, the Yeezy 450 sold out in under a minute, while a pair of sneakers he wore at the 2008 Grammy is available for sale for $1 million.
“I am Michelangelo. I am Picasso,” he told GQ in an interview. “I am unquestionably, undoubtedly, the greatest human artist of all time. It’s not even a question at this point. It’s just a fact.”
